Behind the scenes
[izumo13] [03:25 am - 05 Mar 2010]
Just to give people a bit of an update on what's going on with CryoLAN, here's what we're working on right now:

First, and foremost, our next event is already in the planning stages! We'll be releasing more information soon, but expect our second LAN party to take place in October of this year. We'll have a date and official name announced soon, so stay tuned for that.

Second, we're also working on a new version of the CryoLAN website. We know we could use a bit better layout and design, so keep your eyes open for a new CryoLAN site in the not-too-distant future!

I have finished the timelapse of the setup of CryoLAN, you can find it here on the forums:

Accepting applications for staff positions
[izumo13] [12:45 am - 26 Feb 2010]
CryoLAN is already in the planning stages of it's next event, and we're looking at what we might need for staff in the future. We are looking for people with experience in running dedicated servers, either online or in a tournament situation. Knowledge of PHP, MYSQL, and HTML are highly sought after as well.

This is, for now, a volunteer only position.

Interested parties should e-mail cryolanparty@gmail.com with a description of their experience and abilities.

Upcoming LAN parties
[izumo13] [11:03 pm - 25 Feb 2010]
CryoLAN's first has come and gone, but there's still a lot of gaming events coming up in the next few few days, weeks and months ahead.

Remember, CryoLAN is THE place to come for information on upcoming Western New York computer gaming events! If you have an event you'd like to mention, please let us know at cryolanparty@gmail.com!

First, and most immediate, I want to mention Game Players Anonymous. They're the most frequently held LAN party in Western New York, and perhaps the nation. This LAN group is the reason I moved to New York, and I wouldn't be the game I am without their influence. GPA's next Game Day is TOMORROW, 2/27/2010! Stop by the club house in Hanover and have a great day of gaming with the boys in black, red and gold.

GPA!

A relative newcomer of a LAN party, headed up by a veteran gamer, JonnyFunFun's LAN69 is coming up at the end of May! That's only three months away! There's talk of tents, and who wouldn't want to game under one of those?

And this LAN isn't kidding around, they've already acquired Futuremark Inc. as a sponsor, the makers of 3DMark and Shattered Horizon!

Be sure to sign up early to join Jonny and friends on May 28-30th!

Even closer on the calendar is Western New York Gamer's "Lan Party Extravaganza", held at

Milton J. Brounshidle Post 205
3354 Delaware Ave, Kenmore, NY 14217

This event is a truly great little LAN party which doesn't eat up too much time. I plan on being there for my fourth LPE, so don't forget to pre-register! This LAN runs from noon on April 10th, and goes on till Midnight.

MassiveLAN has announced their seventh annual event. MassiveLAN 2010 will take place on July 9,10,11.

Also, just in, RIT is having an interesting event called REGEX, which promises to be interesting. Running from Saturday, April 24th through 3PM on the 25th, this looks to be a pretty nice party. Exilias and STFD were good enough to join us for CryoLAN, so let's return the favor and get a road trip organized our their way!
